Photos of Pripyat, Chernobyl district, Ukraine

The "Chernobyl disaster", reactor accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, or simply "Chernobyl", was the worst nuclear power plant accident in history.

Nowadays there guided tours are being conducted to this area. These photos are made by me while participating in such a trip.

The sign indicates entrance to the Chernobyl district.

A monument to liquidators of consequences of disaster. Father of one of my friends was one of them. He still alive, but his health was seriously damaged.

Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. It still works.

My friend enters to "Energetik" sports and cultural center of Pripyat.

In the "Energetik".

In the gym.

Sport equipment left untouched.

Portraits of late-soviet leaders.

A lonely doll was lost on the asfalt.

At the side-show park.

Graffities on the walls. They were made nowdays.

In the school.

Class log and books on the floor.

In the hospital yard.

Inside of a cubicle.

Sterilizer.

Hospital's corridor.

Our group are walking across the city.

Abandoned berth.

On the roof of highest building of the town (about 45 meters high).

Soviet emblem on a top of the building. Backstage - Chernobyl NPP.

Another view from the roof.

The end.

Great photos. This is something I've been wanting to do for years.

Can I ask, which tour group did you go through?
